Hello everyone and a big thank you for supporting the Kilmainham Arts Festival last weekend – we enjoyed it and hope you did also!
The next Arts Club is on Monday September 3rd, we will be having a screening of A Revel In blue: The Life and Work of Harry Clarke. We are delighted to have historian, researcher and production co-ordinator for the documentary Ray McGovern to present and say a few words about this stunning documentary.
Using enhanced special effects and copious interviews, this documentary captures the life and work of Harry Clarke (1889-1931) in all its uniqueness and colour. Many of Clarke’s stained-glass windows are featured, Clarke created spectacular stained-glass windows for churches and private patrons in Ireland, England, the United States and Australia. Born in Dublin, Clarke developed a unique style and technique in stained glass that combined deep rich colours with beautiful, elongated figures that exuded poise and grace. His deep blues and ruby reds became the hallmark of his work.
After the screening we will have dance performance from Maria Irlanda, songs from Susan Tomelty’s Acapella group who will be performing for the very first time and music to complete this relaxed and enjoyable night. We look forward to seeing you there, we will be kicking off at 8.30pm sharp with the documentary.
