Kilmainham-Inchicore Community Festival August 24th – 27th

Dear All,

Kilmainham-Inchicore Mini-Festival August 24th – 27th.

This little festival is a collaboration between the Kilmainham Arts Club/Festival and Inchicore-based groups. We’ve joined forces to offer a wide variety of events including: an architectural walking tour, ‘Ideal World’ group art exhibition, a powerful one-man play ‘Trilogy’, an exciting spoken word event, music, children’s activities and film screenings of documentaries made by local film makers.
These events are all free and we hope that you will find something that interests you, we look forward to sharing a really good time, to connections, and to sampling some of the resources that our area is so rich in.

Dear all,

Hope you are enjoying the summer thus far.
Please put August 24th – 27th into your diaries for some exciting arts/community and heritage events that will happening in the Kilmainham Inchicore area – a mini-festival – I’ll be back with more info soon.

I’m currently looking for visual artists who might be interested in organising an exhibition over this period. Also, anyone who has ideas of things they might like to run independently during the period which we could promote and assist in hosting. Ideas include: book launches, poetry readings, music etc.

Dear all,

Kilmainham Mill is a unique, important and beautiful heritage site. We are fighting to have our say in its future use; once lost we can never get it back! It should be purchased by DCC and repurposed as a public amenity – it would be ideal for artists studios/galleries/a museum/community space

JOIN US FOR A GREAT NIGHT: music by local talents in a really fun evening. Meet your neighbours and support this worthy cause. Inchicore/Kilmainham resident talent!
Original songs by Barry Prout, JM with Shane Atlas, Neal (of Locoswing Gypsy Jazz), Conor Clancy and Alan Morton (of HUngry Souls) and Rev JM’s Panic Worship

The funds gathered will be used for the printing of t-shirts, posters and flyers for our volunteers.

Presentations on the big screen and performances.​

It will be an informal, inspiring and fun night​

night which showcases the diverse talents of women​ to celebrate International Women’s Day​
. ​All are welcome, no cover charge.

​Seats 7.45pm and show 8pm. ​

Emilie Conway – Jazz vocalist​

Emilie has created shows such as ‘Emilie sings Billy Holiday’ and ‘No Regrets’, her Edith Piaf show. Emilie ​
​will present a little song tribute for us to writer Maeve Brennan whose centenury it is.

Ria Czerniak – Printmaker
Ria will show us her stunning work, created using copper plate etching, photography and drawing. Ria has exhibited widely including in RHA.

Kyla Tomlinson – Portrait artist

Kyla’s self-portrait was selected for Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year book, Kyla is also a cartoonist.

Nicole Eve Rourke – Writer and performance artist​
Nicole of Big Smoke Writing Factory​, is known for her witty and daring performances.

Kilmainham artist Sean Rushe has kindly donated his p​ortrait of his friend, the Iranian artist Maliheh Zafarnezhad. Proceeds from our raffle for this original painting will be used exclusively to buy schoolbooks for Home of Hope for girls – a residential home for trafficked/vulnerable girls – in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Wednesday March 8th – Wild and Precious Arts Night

Please put Wednesday March 8th in your diary because Kilmainham Arts Club is back with an eclectic arts night for International Women’s Day. All are welcome to this event which includes presentations of art and photography on the big screen, short film, song, spoken word and music. The presentations – which highlight female talent and vision – combine to create a relaxed entertaining night which will inspire.

Patriots Inn, Kilmainham, Weds 8th seats 19.45 show at 20.00

all are welcome & there’s no admission charge. So far the confirmed line-up includes:

Emilie Conway – Emilie is an internationally renowned jazz vocalist, her upcoming project is – ‘No Regrets‘ Across the Continents, the Music of Great Female Vocalists: Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Abbey Lincoln, Elis Regina.
Kyla Thomlinson – Portrait artist and winner of the Sky Arts Portrait of the Year
Nicole Eve Rourke – writer and performance artist

Collections on the night (by voluntary donation) will be used exclusively to buy schoolbooks for Home of Hope for girls in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a residential home for trafficked/vulnerable girls who are rescued from prostitution and exploitation, they are given a loving home and their education and training is supported so that they can take control of their lives.
